COMMON GROUND FESTIVAL
12 – 13 – 14 August 2022
KPH VOLUME, Enghavevej 80, 2450 København
A brand-new music festival in the heart of Copenhagen
Common Ground Festival is a new festival specialising in international music brought to you by the team at All Things Live Denmark. Designed by promoters Liam Carroll and Kasper Boldt, the festival’s primary aim is to move away from genre limitations and bring a diverse pool of artists to the same stage. From punk, to grime, to psych to hyper-pop – you will get it all under one roof.
The first year of the festival will deliberately be a small affair, allowing us to present artists in a more intimate setting than they would usually be expected to play in.
Promoter Liam Carroll says: “One thing that really excites me about this project is that you’d usually expect to see these headliners playing much larger venues, or to much larger festival crowds. Experiencing live music in this manner really allows you to feel like you’re a part of something special.”
The festival will take place at KPH Volume – a truly unique space when it comes to venues in Copenhagen, which is exactly why it was handpicked as the location for the first edition of Common Ground Festival.
Promoter Kasper Boldt adds: “From the first brainstorm, we knew we wanted a post-industrial space, something a little left from centre. When we committed to having this year’s festival in-venue, we knew that Volume was going to be hard to look past.”
Essentially, the line-up is what really makes the festival stand out. Parquet Courts will be bringing their rumbunctious punk rock energy to the Friday headline slot with their first show in Denmark since 2019. The band are almost made by design to play these kind of shows – sweaty, energetic and they’ll be backed up by CASISDEAD, one of the UK’s most influential and enigmatic rappers, and Berwyn, an NME Award-winner who effortlessly flows between soulful singing and heartfelt rhyming.
Saturday will bring English indie-pop legends Metronomy into the limelight having just released their 7th studio album, Small World. Joined by Dorian Electra, a no holds barred gender bashing pop icon, and Donny Benét, a bass maestro and pop ballad extraordinaire. Sunday is headed by Altin Gün, the Turkish psych pop ensemble making big waves around Europe. Returning from a sold-out show at Bremen Teater in late 2021, the laidback grooves will be the perfect winddown. The sonic journey will be completed by Tess Parks, fresh off the back of her newest album And Those Who Were Seen Dancing, and Pink Siifu, who will be bringing a nice dose of punk, hip-hop and RnB energy to the line-up.
Common Ground Festival 2022 is not just a one team job and is becoming a reality in collaboration with a strong selection of passionate partners. Depanneur, the local favourite beverage label, bagel bakery and convenience store, will be on board as the festival’s primary sponsor. Flanked by Politiken as the festival media partner, Common Ground Festival is fully set to embrace all lovers of exceptional live music experiences.
